It’s the late 1970’s in Adelaide, South Australia. A freshly graduated marine biologist, Vic Neverauskas, scores his first job at the city’s developing power station.
Vic quickly discovers that everyone has their own method of passing the time on the dreaded night shift. One of these was doing university assignments, so Vic decides to return to study, with his new found after hours profitable pastime. But as he learns more about the life of a security guard, everything changes.
Vic enters a world that he has no idea about and stumbles through a maze of characters and incidents. There are gun nuts and real man wannabes, genuine people just trying to make ends meet and others of dubious repute. The nighttime life of Adelaide’s underworld brings its fair share of strange adventures and he finds himself assaulted, under fire and locked in the back of a panel van, travelling at speed through the backblocks, surrounded by millions of dollars of cash. It all becomes a little bizarre. It all becomes hard to believe. But it is all true.
In Security is a light hearted, often funny insight into the private security business in South Australia several decades ago. The author’s experiences are recounted to paint a picture of the industry at the time through the eyes of an idealistic but very much naïve marine biologist.

An interesting book filled with amusing anecdotes about Vic's time as a security guard while he searched for a job as a marine biologist. I really liked the characters that crossed Vic's path and it kept my interest throughout.An enjoyable easy read.
